Let The 2015 Season Begin

The New Year has begun and 2014 is in the record books for the FSFL. Most of the FSFL people are watching the BCS and NFL football playoffs or playing pick-up games. Most of the football addicts will be suffering with the post season “hangover” or longing for a “long lost love” while waiting for the 2015 season to begin. The FSFL is preparing for its meetings to review the league needs and make the appropriate changes and review new team applications, to push them into one of the premier league in at the semi-professional level.

The teams are reviewing their 2014 season to see where they need improvement and jockeying for players that will help win them a championship. A quick review of the 2014 is needed to help understand the beginning of the 2015 season. On the offensive side of the ball it appears that the successful teams are running a spread offense with a mobile quarterback so they can attack the defense at multiply areas on the field on each play. If that QB can throw across his body, this adds a new dimension to each play. The era of the pocket QB seems to be fading.

This new offense scheme seems to be putting more pressure on the defensive side of the ball. The old saying “defense wins championships” has filtered down to “defense wins games”. No matter how many points are scored by both offenses in a game one of the defenses has to either come up with a stop, turnover or safety so their team scores more points than the opponent’s offensive. This being the case you will see defense coordinators coming up with innovative and creative defense schemes each week to defeat their opponents.

Would you like to be part of this excitement? Whether you are a player, coach or and administrative person or interested owners you can be part of this. How? I’m trying to figure out if there’s any chance of knowing when tryouts will be for a team in Westchester County? If anyone knows please let me know. Love the sport of football, definitely want to have it back in my life, but as the player perspective again! thank you
